THE FOUR SEASONS, EDITOR'S REPORT. JANUARY 2006.
I would like to start this report by thanking all those members who wrote contributions for The Four Seasons during 2005. Without your efforts there would be no newsletter, I know that I frequently ask the busiest group members for beekeeping articles, and that finding the time to sit down and write bee related articles is not often easy. Don't ever think that I don't appreciate you!
During 2005 several articles from The Four Seasons were reprinted in other Beekeeping journals through the BEES scheme. BBKA News and Beekeeping being two journals that used our material, this shows the quality of writing and interesting choice of beekeeping subject matter supplied by the writers. I don't seem to be receiving quite so many publications from the BEES scheme as when I first joined so I may have missed some other reprints.
I entered two editions of The Four Seasons in the contest for Beekeeping Journals at Apimondia, we came nowhere, but I enjoyed seeing our GBBG newsletter on display amongst the more glossy journals.
The Four Seasons is published in February, May, August and November, and I try to get the newsletters into the post as early in the month as I can. I am helped enormously by the members who come back to me with completed articles soon after being asked for them. I have a suspicion that others whom I have asked, think that I will forget, so they do nothing, until hounded by me, frantic to put the newsletter together. Little do they know that "I have them on the list" and so don't forget. I really do not like having to make repeated harassing phone calls so would appreciate not having to do so!
As always, I am on the look out for beekeeping articles, and ideas for articles I have NOTHING up my sleeve for the Spring newsletter. Please help me to keep the The Four Seasons going.
Finally I would like to give a big thank you to the long suffering Gwen Roe and Ruary Rudd, only they and I know the demands I make of them.
